=== Preparation ===&lt;br /&gt;
Melt butter.  Stir in flour, salt and pepper until smooth and bubbly.  Gradually add milk.  Bring to a boil for 2 minutes.  In greased 1 qt baking dish, layer 1/2 the potatoes.  Add onion and half the sauce.  Add potatoes and remainder of the sauce.  Cover and bake at 350° for 35-40 minutes.&lt;br /&gt;
