* 1/2 c vegetable oil&lt;br /&gt;
* 5 medium-large onions, chopped&lt;br /&gt;
* 5 lbs lean ground beef or turkey&lt;br /&gt;
* 4 c (1 qt) ketchup&lt;br /&gt;
* 1 1/4 c Dijon mustard&lt;br /&gt;
* 2/3 c soy sauce&lt;br /&gt;
* 1/4 c Worcestershire sauce&lt;br /&gt;
* 1 T hot pepper sauce&lt;br /&gt;
* 2/3 c packed light or dark brown sugar&lt;br /&gt;
* 1 T garlic powder&lt;br /&gt;
* 30 sandwich buns&lt;br /&gt;

=== Preparation ===&lt;br /&gt;
Heat oil in a large roasting pan over two burners on medium-high heat.  Add onions and cook, stirring, until tender, 5-7 minutes.  Add ground meat and cook, stirring frequently to break up larger clumps, until no longer pink.  Drain or spoon off any excess fat.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Mix remaining ingredients, except buns, in a medium bowl and stir them into meat.  Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until mixture is thick, 5-8 minutes.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
To warm sandwich buns, heat oven to 325°F.  Place 1 bun per person in a single layer on a baking sheet.  Bake until buns are warm throughout, 8-10 minutes.  Warm more as needed.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Spoon a portion of meat onto each bun and serve.&lt;br /&gt;
