Ingredients

  • 1 c butter
  • 1 1/2 c sugar
  • 2 c chopped dates (~10 oz)
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 t milk
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 1/2 t vanilla
  • 1 T dark rum (or rum flavoring)
  • 4 c Rice Krispies
  • 1 c chopped walnuts (optional)
  • coconut

Preparation

Melt butter in large pan. Mix in sugar and dates; beat in eggs, milk and salt. Boil 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add vanilla and rum, stir. Add Rice Krispies and walnuts, mix until mixture is well blended. Cool.

Roll in small balls, roll in coconut.

Store in tight container; will freeze well.
