Ingredients

  • 7 oz almond paste
  • 1 x 9" pie shell, chilled
  • 1/2 c flour
  • 1/2 c uncooked oats
  • 1/2 c light brown sugar
  • 1/4 c chopped almonds
  • 1 t cinnamon, divided
  • 6 T cold butter, cut into 1/4" pieces
  • 1/4 c sugar
  • 5 baking apples, peeled, cored, and sliced

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375. Shape the almond paste into a flat disk. Roll out to 9" disk, between 2 sheets of wax paper.

Press the disk into the bottom and up the sides of the pie shell. Refrigerate.

For the topping, combine the flour, oats, brown sugar, almonds, and half the cinnamon. Cut butter into the mixture until crumbs are formed.

For the filling, mix the sugar with the remaining cinnamon, and toss with the apples and pour into the pie shell. Spoon topping over the apples.

Bake 50-60 minutes or until golden brown. If the topping is browning too quickly, loosely tent with foil.
