Rating Very good

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c butter
  • 4 c miniature marshmallows
  • 1 t green food coloring, or as needed
  • 1/2 t almond extract
  • 1/2 t vanilla extract
  • 4 c cornflakes cereal
  • 2 1/4 oz cinnamon red hot candies (aka "Imperials")

Preparation

Line a baking tray with waxed paper.

Place marshmallows and butter in a microwave-safe bowl; microwave on high for 2 minutes. Stir, then microwave on high for 2 minutes more; stir.[1]

Mix in coloring, almond extract, and vanilla until the desired color is reached; gently stir in cornflakes to coat.

Drop by tablespoonfuls onto the prepared tray and use lightly greased fingers to form wreath shapes; decorate with 3 red hots each.

Allow cookies to cool and set, about 15 minutes; store in an airtight container.

Notes

  1. When making a 4x-batch recipe, melting the butter and marshmallows on stovetop takes about 10 minutes.
  • 4x recipe made about 31 wreaths using a 1/4 cup scoop
  • 8x recipe made ~7 dozen in 2024
  • 8x uses most of 2 "family size" (18 oz) boxes of cornflakes, and 6 10oz bags of marshmallows
  • As of Dec 2024, Fleet Farm has best pricing for marshmallows (-$1 per bag) and cinnamon Imperials (aka red hots)
