Made this for Thanksgiving in 2001. Jan rated it "Good!"
Ingredients
- 4 c peeled tart apples
- 3 c sliced almonds
- 1 1/2 c chopped onion
- 1 1/2 c chopped celery
- 1/2 c butter
- 2 t salt
- 2 t cinnamon
- 2 t poultry seasoning
- 2 c raisins
- 1 c apple cider or juice
- 1/2 c egg substitute
- 1 1/2 c water
- 12 c cubed whole wheat bread
Preparation
Preheat the oven to 325. Grease a 3(?) qt casserole or 9x13 pan.
In a large skillet, melt the butter, and saute the apples, onions, celery, and almonds. Remove from the heat, and stir in the seasonings.
In a large bowl, combine the bread cubes, raisins, and apple mixture. Add the cider and egg substitute. Toss to coat, and pour into the greased pan. Cover. Bake 30-40 minutes at 325, then uncovered for 10 minutes.
