Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 c flour
  • 1/3 c yellow cornmeal
  • 3 T sugar
  • 2 1/2 t baking powder
  • 1/4 t salt
  • 3 1/2 T chilled butter, cut in small pieces
  • 1/2 c 1% milk
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • cooking spray

Preparation

Preheat oven to 375°F.

Combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt in large bowl; cut in butter until mealy. Add milk and egg; stir until just moist.

Knead on floured surface 4 times with floured hands. Cover baking sheet with parchment paper; coat with cooking spray. Pat dough into 7-inch circle on prepared sheet; cut into 8 wedges, cutting into but not through dough.

Bake at 375° for 22 minutes or until golden brown and tests done. Serve warm.
